Project overview

Tyler Bathen Design needed a portfolio capable of presenting a wide range of creative work without ever feeling scattered. I designed the experience around bold typography, flexible layouts, motion, and strong visual pacing, giving Shopify development, UX/UI, brand identity, and video work room to live within one cohesive system. The goal was more than showcasing projects; the portfolio itself needed to demonstrate the thinking, personality, and technical range behind the work. Now archived, it remains the creative foundation that influenced the Imagine design system and what followed.

Challenges

The core challenge was tonal range. The portfolio had to accommodate everything from gritty brand identities and polished e-commerce to healthcare UX and cinematic motion while still feeling like one recognizable body of work. I built a flexible visual system around expressive typography, modular grids, intentional color, and strong art direction, allowing each project to retain its own personality without breaking the larger experience. Performance mattered too, so the site needed to feel dynamic and visually ambitious while remaining fast, intuitive, and easy for prospective clients to explore.

Results

The finished portfolio positioned Tyler Bathen Design as a multidisciplinary creative studio with the technical range to support the visual work. E-commerce, branding, UX, and motion each had space to make an impact while contributing to one cohesive experience. Rather than simply claiming versatility, the website demonstrated it through its own interaction, structure, and art direction. Now archived, the project remains an important creative blueprint and the foundation for the broader design approach that evolved from it.
