Project overview

Conroe Cowboy Co. is a Texas western wear brand founded by artist and designer Tyler Bathen, built on a passion for premium leather craftsmanship and the American West. The brand needed a digital home that matched the quality of the boots themselves: rooted in Texas heritage but built for a modern customer who shops, browses, and discovers on their phone. Discovery centered on a core tension: the site had to feel authentic to western tradition without becoming nostalgic kitsch, and modern enough to perform like a serious e-commerce engine without losing the soul of a handcrafted brand.

Challenges

The hardest problem was balancing character with utility. Western boots live in a category crowded with cliché, and any drift toward overdone iconography risks turning a premium brand into costume, but too sterile and the storytelling that justifies the price disappears. We also had to architect for breadth without dilution. The collections include limited editions, signature lines, custom requests, and seasonal drops, each needing its own moment without burying the path to purchase.

Results

The final platform delivers an editorial, craft-forward experience anchored in a refined palette of warm neutrals, deep leather tones, and clean typography. Collections are framed around narrative rather than specs, custom order requests are surfaced clearly to give serious customers a direct line into the workshop, and the mobile experience meets shoppers where they actually browse with a streamlined path to add-to-cart. The result is a site that honors the legacy of the American West while performing for the modern customer: rugged enough to trust, refined enough to want, and built to grow with the brand.
