Koch & Carlisle is a West Des Moines practice offering plastic surgery, injectables, wellness, medical spa services, and hair restoration.
Project overview
Koch & Carlisle Plastic Surgery & Spa needed a digital experience that could bring an unusually broad range of aesthetic and wellness services into one clear, cohesive platform. As Lead UX Designer, I shaped the information architecture and user experience around distinctly different patient journeys, from someone researching surgery for months to a spa client ready to book today. More than 25 services had to feel comprehensive without becoming overwhelming, while credentials, real patient results, and reputation signals needed to establish trust early. The WordPress experience combines structured navigation, content strategy, review integration, and conversion-focused UX to help patients quickly understand their options and move confidently toward the right provider, service, or consultation.
Challenges
The core challenge was breadth without chaos. Koch & Carlisle effectively combines five practices in one: plastic surgery, wellness and weight loss, injectables, medical spa services, and hair restoration. Each attracts a different audience with its own needs, level of research, and decision timeline. The architecture needed to help patients self-route without forcing every visitor through the same journey, keeping surgical experiences authoritative while allowing spa and wellness services to feel approachable and accessible. Trust was equally important, so board certifications, provider expertise, real before-and-after results, and an integrated reputation system were positioned throughout key decision points rather than buried on secondary pages.

Results
The finished platform gives Koch & Carlisle a unified digital home for a practice extending far beyond plastic surgery. Clear service pathways help patients navigate more than 25 offerings and quickly reach the care most relevant to them, while an integrated reputation system puts 742 verified reviews to work establishing credibility throughout the experience. Provider credentials, authentic before-and-after results, Spanish-language content, and a streamlined consultation flow further reduce friction between research and action. Following launch, consultation requests increased by 32%, connecting a clearer patient journey with measurable business results. The result is a polished, mobile-friendly experience that makes a complex multidisciplinary practice feel focused, approachable, and easy to navigate.
